Sir,

I have the honour to inform you that I have authorized in the Windward Islands a departure from the provision in Rule 284 of the Colonial Regulations for valuation of the furniture and other articles on the value of which the Governor is required to pay five per cent; and you are at liberty in the Colony under your Government to substitute the following system for the present one.

The latest valuation may be taken as the present value of the furniture and other articles, and instead of a revaluation each year an annual reduction of five per cent may be allowed for depreciation and the percentage charged on the reduced amount.

In the same way the Governor should be charged with five per cent on the cost of new furniture or other articles and on this cost a regular annual reduction of five per cent allowed for depreciation.
